Fundraising Heroes
2023: Roman, a current Manchester YMCA student, has signed up to the 11km BigXmas run at Sale Water Park. Roman is fundraising for the Manchester YMCA Champions4Change (C4C) project, which supports people who have long-term physical and/or mental health conditions and have been referred to us by a GP/ and or other charities. The aim of the project is for participants to establish a physically active and healthier lifestyle which will improve wellbeing.
Roman completed the race and came 9th out of 260 participants. Alongside Roman, Luke (one of our tutors) also participated in the race. Both Roman and Luke supported each other and they both achieved a Personal Best run time.
2022: Manchester YMCA Harriers member took part in the Equinox 24, Equinox24 is a continual 24 hour run in teams around a mixed terrain 10k loop against the clock. The team raised over £2000 in funds for YMCA Manchester, Youth and Community Service.
2021: Caroline, Lesley, Alan, John, John, Alan and Ken undertook the three peaks challenge in aid of the YMCA Manchester, Mental Health Champions charity, which aims to support the mental health of young people. The team raised over £3500!
2019: Mike, Andy and Amanda undertook the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, raising over £1,000 for Manchester YMCA.
2017: Members and Staff of Manchester YMCA participated in a Firewalk at Manchester YMCA. Over £2000 was raised by the campaign.
2015: Airborne Environmental Consultants Ltd (AEC) participated in the YMCA England national cycling event “Tour de Y”.The tour involved AEC cycling, in stages, from Windermere to London. The AEC team raised over £3,000.
2013: A team of 8 YMCA members undertook the National 3 Peaks Challenge (Ben Nevis/Scafell/Snowdon). The team raised £4,000 for Manchester YMCA, Youth and Community projects.
1998: A group of YMCA Manchester members participated in the Manchester Marathon, raising vital funds for the Frank Taylor centre for Young Disabled people. The team raised an impressive two thousand pounds to support the amazing work of the centre and benefit young people.
