oakwoodLast year we delivered our Sport and Active leisure Diploma to a group of post-16 students from Oakwood Academy. They undertook a combination of practical and theory sessions using our gym and sports hall. We also worked with two post-16 students to deliver an employability and personal development qualification.

This year we are delivering a L1 Award in Fitness and Physical Activity and an entry level sport and leisure qualification alongside an experiential programme which includes work experience, healthy cooking classes and visit to sport, fitness and leisure facilities designed to enhance their learning.

Jack Ellis, PE HLTA at Oakwood Academy:
“Pupils this year have really enjoyed taking part in the course and the new experiences they have been offered practically and theory wise.   Students have developed their confidence in practical activities and particularly engaged in learning new skills and building confidence in the gym.
Students have experienced new teaching styles and the opportunity to challenge themselves in their learning in a structured setting. The course has been a fantastic opportunity for students to collaborate with students from other colleges and have experiences outside of college.”
